A Message from:
Brenda Patton, RN, PCS, DCS – ALLSTAR Hospice Executive Director/Owner
I am so privileged to own and operate ALLSTAR Hospice. As a nurse, I was always taught to do everything possible to save a patient’s life. But after 30+ years of nursing, I now understand that there are times when we cannot change the inevitable outcome for a patient. We can, however, help them to truly live until they die by providing the best possible care up to that final moment. I believe that everyone should be able to die with dignity and without pain.
That is why I take a “hands on” approach when it comes to operating ALLSTAR Hospice. In addition to being an owner and the Executive Director of ALLSTAR Hospice, I am still very involved in patient care and routinely see patients. I never ask my staff to do something that I would not do myself. It is imperative that “my patients” receive the absolute best possible care.
It is equally important that we care for our patients’ families. Our patients and their families really do become a part of our family here at ALLSTAR Hospice. We often plan special events just to nurture our patients’ families. It is very important to us that our families know that they are not alone, that we are here to help them as much as the patient, and that we will still be here for them once their loved one dies. I always make sure that our families have my cell phone number and that they know that I am available to answer questions or just talk at any time of day or night. This is so much more than a job for the staff and myself here at ALLSTAR Hospice. It is our honor to care for our patients and their families during the last journey of life.
